Deacon Nominations 2025-2026
Deacon nominations for 2025-2026 will be open June 1 through June 30. The deacon ministry is responsible for promoting unity within First Baptist Prattville by lovingly ministering to our members, visiting members and working alongside our pastors and staff to fulfill the mission of First Baptist Prattville.
FBCP members can nominate up to eight men for a regular rotation and one man to fill an unexpired term. If you would like to make your nominations in person, please the church office. A membership list is also available in the church office to assist you with your nominations. Before submitting, please read the deacon qualifications and responsibilities and take note of those men who are currently serving or completing their three-year term, and, thus, not eligible for nomination.
Deacon Qualifications:
Men who are qualified to serve as deacons at First Baptist Prattville will:
1. Pursue the qualifications of a deacon as given in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
2. Be a cheerful, consistent and generous giver according to 2 Corinthians 8 and 9.
3. Do all within his power to create and preserve unity in the church as shown in Ephesians 4:1-3
4. Develop spiritual disciplines, including but not limited to: consistent Scripture intake, prayer, fasting, giving and evangelism
Deacon Responsibilities:
Nominees should be prepared to promote unity in the church by:
1. Lovingly minister to all church members assigned to him through the deacon members ministry.
2. Contacting each of his assigned members two times within the year.
3. Visiting all his assigned members who are in the hospital
4. Visiting all his assigned members who cannot attend church due to chronic illness or lack of mobility
5. Assisting the Pastors and Staff in providing ministry and continuing the mission of First Baptist Prattville.
Current Deacons
The following men are currently serving as deacons and will continue to serve during 2023-2024:
Art Cowart, Drew Coyle, Matt Darby, Brian DeKruyff, Greg Gray, James Harry, Stephen Holderfield, Mel Johnson, Scott Kramer, Allen Mills, Scott Moore, Eric Morgan, Trice Nichols, Joe Robison, Randy Sallé and Matt Short.
The following men are completing their three-year term, and thus, are not eligible for nomination:
Billy Barrett, Doug Darr, Harold Hammond, Russ Majors, Jeremy Morgan, Larry Raines, Bruce Ward and Jonathan West.
Online Nominations
The online nomination form will open Sunday, June 1. Please check back here on June 1. All nominations close June 30.
